Job summary

Sunnybrook Research Institute in Toronto seeks a part-time Animal Research Technician to support Drs. Dunn and Wang. The role focuses on animal husbandry, colony management, and assisting in related experiments within the preclinical brain disorder research programs.

The successful candidate will perform record keeping, behavioral assessments, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across our labs to advance disease models.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with mouse handling, tagging, and record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Animal husbandry (e.g. weaning, tagging mice).
• Record keeping for colony and experiments.
• Assist in maintaining preclinical models.
• Conduct animal behavioral assessments as part of studies.
• Collaborate with lab members on various projects.
• Perform immunohistochemistry as required.
• Assist with flow cytometry tasks.
• Support primary immune culture experiments.

A part-time animal research technician position is available jointly in the labs of Drs. Shannon Dunn and Chao Wang, Biological Sciences Platform at Sunnybrook Research Institute, Toronto.

One of Canada's Top 10 Research Hospitals, Sunnybrook Research Institute is developing innovations in care for the more than 1.3 million patients the hospital cares for annually. The Dunn lab and Wang lab are both interested in developing treatments for brain disorders presenting with neuroimmune pathologies. They specialize in preclinical animal models of depression and multiple sclerosis. The successful applicant will focus on performing animal husbandry, colony management, and assist in related experiments.
