RESEARCH LAWYER – COMMERCIAL LITIGATION GROUP – VANCOUVER OFFICE

We are seeking an experienced Research Lawyer to join the Commercial Litigation Group in our Vancouver office.

Fasken’s Vancouver litigators regularly appear before all levels of court including the Supreme Court of Canada and our Commercial Litigation Group is ranked among the top litigation teams by several publications including Chambers Global.

Although Fasken is one of BC’s largest law firms with over 155 lawyers in our Vancouver office, we pride ourselves on having a close-knit and supportive culture that values mentorship. For instance, the Commercial Litigation Group’s 20 lawyers have a casual weekly coffee meeting to discuss recent cases, developments in the law, or just connect.

In this role, you will provide timely and cost-effective legal research, analysis and drafting support to the Commercial Litigation Group. This support would typically include drafting legal research memoranda and arguments (or parts of arguments) at varying levels of court, including appellate factums.

The ideal candidate will have two to five years of litigation experience, commercial litigation experience preferred, at a leading national, boutique firm or government body as well as:

• a strong academic record;
• excellent judgement and good interpersonal skills;
• an organic and demonstrable interest in the law;
• service-oriented and responsive nature; and
• the ability to deliver on complex files in a fast-paced environment.

We are looking for the right fit for this position and will consider candidates who are more senior than the 2-5 year call range. A judicial clerkship, ideally at the appellate level, would also be an asset but is not required.

The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $185,000 (our 2026 range for second – five year calls), but may vary depending on the successful candidate’s experience.
