Job summary

Cohere is seeking a Research Intern to collaborate with our researchers and tools on designing and implementing novel ideas in large language models. You will have the chance to work on base model training, retrieval augmented generation, data and evaluation, safety, and fine-tuning, with a focus on NLP and real-world applications.

You must be pursuing a PhD in ML, NLP, or a related field, or be an exceptional non-PhD candidate, and be available for a 4–6 month full-time internship.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a PhD in ML, NLP, AI or related field; exceptional non-PhD candidates considered.
• Experience with large-scale distributed training, data annotation and evaluation pipelines.
• Familiarity with autoregressive sequence models, e.g., Transformers.
• Proficiency in Python, C, C++, Lua, or related languages.
• Knowledge of ML frameworks such as JAX, PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Experience building systems based on ML and deep learning techniques.
• Passion for applied NLP models and products.
