The Office of Research Administration (ORA) at Unity Health Toronto is committed to transparency, accountability, and governance in research support. The ORA's Finance team fosters a respectful environment that promotes personal and professional growth.

We are seeking a Research Financial Analyst with strong organizational and analytical skills to provide administrative, financial, and customer service support in a complex environment. This role involves managing over 50 activities, supporting month-end processes, and assisting Researchers, senior management, and external sponsors, offering opportunities for skill development within an academic healthcare setting.

Duties & Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

• Manage over 30 research administration accounts and 20 ORA infrastructure accounts.
• Serve as the primary contact for the St. Michaels Foundation and process transfers.
• Ensure transaction compliance related to research expenses and procurement card use.
• Manage research accounts for direct costs and perform related month-end journal entries.
• Develop and deliver financial training for new Principal Investigators.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare monthly reconciliations for CIHR salary and operating payments, and balance sheet accounts.
• Generate monthly reports and narratives on research administration accounts.
• Identify issues in department accounts receivable and prepare reports on internal and external funding.
• Develop solutions to streamline reporting processes.

Client Service

• Communicate financial results, policies, and procedures to Principal Investigators and stakeholders.
• Build effective relationships and represent the ORA within the research community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in finance.
• Completion or pursuit of a recognized accounting designation (CGA, CMA, or equivalent).
• 1-3 years of office experience.
• Advanced skills in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat; knowledge of MS Access and Infor CloudSuite preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and manage multiple projects.
• Willingness to learn and demonstrate initiative.
