About the Ontario Tobacco Research Unit (OTRU): Established in 1993, OTRU is part of the Institute of Mental Health Policy Research at CAMH. It focuses on tobacco control research and evaluation, supporting activities like the Smoke-Free Connect project funded by Health Canada, which aims to promote community connectedness among people trying to quit smoking in rural and remote areas.

Role Overview: We are seeking a full-time, 12-month contract Research Coordinator to support research, evaluation, implementation, and quality improvement activities. The role involves working closely with community members, people with lived experience, research personnel, and stakeholders to implement project activities.

The responsibilities include:

  • Stakeholder engagement and liaising with community agencies and program implementers.
  • Supervising community engagement activities involving individuals with lived experience.
  • Designing workflows, data collection tools, and knowledge translation materials.
  • Working with software like REDCap to program surveys.
  • Collaborating with technology vendors and monitoring project progress.
  • Managing data collection, entry, auditing, and quality control.
  • Conducting literature reviews and summarizing evidence for various formats.
  • Supporting research study planning, ethics submissions, recruitment, data management, analysis, and compliance.
  • Tracking project progress, coordinating meetings, and preparing reports.
  • Contributing to social media and knowledge translation efforts.

Minimum Requirements: A Master's degree in a health-related field with at least two years of relevant experience. Familiarity with research processes and data systems is required.

Key Qualifications:

  • Understanding of research design, data collection, and management strategies.
  • Knowledge of ethical standards such as GCP and TCPS.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and working with individuals with lived experience.
  • Proficiency in developing and managing data collection tools (e.g., REDCap).
  • Experience with literature reviews, reference management, and quality assurance.
  • Ability to prepare ethics applications and conduct data analysis.
  • Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Knowledge of tobacco dependence interventions is an asset.
  • Fluency in English; French is an asset but not required.
