Job summary

Morphocell Technologies Inc. is seeking a Research Associate to contribute to development and optimization of cell-derived medical devices in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team in Laval, QC.

You will work hands-on across cell culture, molecular assays, biomaterials characterization, and device manufacturing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, scientifically curious, and proficient in documentation, data analysis, and teamwork, with strong written and verbal communication in French and

Qualifications

  • Hands-on laboratory experience from academic research, coursework, internships, or co-op.
  • Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques including accurate pipetting and sample preparation.
  • Experience with at least one of RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, ELISA, cell viability assays, or other biological assays.
  • Familiarity with experimental design, controls, replicates and data interpretation.
  • Experience using common lab equipment (pipettes, centrifuges, pH meters, analytical balances).
  • Proficiency with Excel and/or GraphPad Prism for basic data analysis.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and organized experimental documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot experiments and learn new techniques and equipment.
  • Mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique.
  • RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, PCR, qPCR, or gene expression analysis.
  • ELISA or automated immunoassay platforms (e.g., FLEX2).
  • Cell phenotype, proliferation, viability, or functional assays.
  • Device fabrication/manufacturing and hands-on process development.

Responsibilities

  • Support laboratory experiments, including cell culture, assay execution, sample preparation, and data collection.
  • Perform routine laboratory techniques accurately and reproducibly, including pipetting and reagent preparation.
  • Conduct and support analytical assays such as qPCR, ELISA, cell viability and other characterization methods.
  • Assist with hydrogel formulation, biomaterial characterization, and device manufacturing activities.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and communicate experimental data using appropriate tools.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, equipment logs, and sample documentation.
  • Follow SOPs and safety procedures, contributing to continuous improvement of protocols.
  • Support inventory management, sample tracking, equipment maintenance, calibration, and waste management.
  • Troubleshoot laboratory equipment, assays, and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, quality-focused lab environment.
  • Communicate results and observations clearly to project teams.
  • Demonstrate scientific curiosity and proactive learning.

Job description

As a Research Associate within the Product Engineering Department at Morphocell Technologies, you will contribute to the development and optimization of cell-derived medical devices. You will work hands-on across cell culture, molecular and protein-based assays, biomaterials characterization, device manufacturing, and laboratory operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, scientifically curious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support laboratory experiments, including cell culture, assay execution, sample preparation, and data collection.
  • Perform routine laboratory techniques accurately and reproducibly, including pipetting, reagent and buffer preparation, and biological sample handling.
  • Perform and support analytical assays such as qPCR, ELISA, cell viability/functional assays, and other characterization methods.
  • Support hydrogel formulation, biomaterial characterization, and device manufacturing activities.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and communicate experimental data using appropriate analytical tools.
  • Maintain accurate and complete laboratory notebooks, experimental records, equipment logs, and sample documentation.
