Job summary

The University of British Columbia (Point Grey Campus) is seeking a Research Associate in Electrochemistry to design, execute, and communicate research on decarbonization tech and self-driving labs. This is a non-tenure track position within the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science.

Responsibilities include leading project proposals, directing experiments, mentoring researchers, coordinating with collaborators, and managing equipment sourcing.

Qualifications

  • PhD in chemistry.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science.
  • 6+ years of experience with self-driving labs, electrochemical reactors, and thin-film materials.
  • Strong publication record in thin-film materials and related fields.
  • Experience with Python, C/C++, UI/UX.
  • Effective verbal, visual, and written science communication.
  • Experience mentoring team/other researchers.

  • Direct experiment planning and contribute to experiment execution related to thin-film materials, electrochemical reactors for carbon utilization and storage, and self-driving lab research and development.
  • Contribute to management of a multidisciplinary research team.
  • Mentor students and colleagues.
  • Ensure team members follow policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with external collaborators as needed.
  • Oversee sourcing and purchasing of necessary equipment and supplies and other duties as assigned.

The expected pay range for this position is $100,000-$110,000 annually.

This Research Associate position will play a key role in the design, execution, and communication of research projects related to electrochemical decarbonization technologies and self-driving labs. The position is within the Department of Chemistry at the Point Grey Campus of the University of British Columbia. This is a non-tenure track position.
