Job summary

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto is seeking a Research Technician to support focused ultrasound projects within the Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program. The role involves data collection, analysis, manuscript preparation, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate has experience with animal models, neuroscience, and clinical data systems, along with proficiency in R or Python and the Microsoft Office suite. Occasional weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will be experienced in animal experiments, biologic specimen handling and processing, biochemical assays, and histological techniques.
• Familiarity with office suite (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint), statistical softwares and programming languages R or Python
• Familiarity with Protected Health Information, and clinical data capture systems (e.g. REDCap)
• Team player and self-starter with the ability to work efficiently and independently

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with rest of the team on focused ultrasound projects to advance data collection and analysis, and manuscript preparation
• Work within the larger context of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) and observe Hospital and Research Institute rules and regulations, in particular the Human Rights Code regarding discrimination and harassment.
• Ensure the confidentiality of patient, employee and Hospital information at all times
• Work cooperatively and constructively with the other members of staff
• Perform duties in a manner aligned with SHSC philosophy and mission while promoting good public relations with patients, visitors and staff
• Occasional weekend work if necessary

Summary of Duties:

In addition, you will be expected to:

• Work within the larger context of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) and observe Hospital and Research Institute rules and regulations, policies, procedures, practices, safety procedures and current legislation, in particular the Human Rights Code regarding discrimination and harassment.
• Ensure the confidentiality of patient, employee and Hospital information at all times.
• Work cooperatively and constructively with the other members of staff.
• Perform the above functions in a manner, which reflects SHSC Hospital philosophy and mission of service, while promoting and maintaining good public relations with patients, visitors and staff.
• Work on occasional weekends if necessary
