Job Description
RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position Summary
Department/Research Program: Obstetrics and Gynecology/Child Health and Human Development
The sex chromosomes influence gene regulation and loss of one of them has multiple phenotypic consequences. The project is to study the impact of monosomy X on chromatin organization using mouse models and includes chromatin immunoprecipitation and sequencing (ChIP-seq).
General Duties
- Performing ChIP experiments on mouse cells/tissues,
- Conducting quantitative PCR,
- Basic lab work and maintenance,
- Working with literature, analysis of published data, bioinformatics databases,
- Contributing to manuscript writing, presentation and dissemination of project’s work.

Education / Experience
Education: Master's Degree
Field of Study: Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or related discipline.
Work Experience: 2 years of experience required for the position.
Required Skills
- Excellent knowledge of chemistry,
- Excellent mental math skills,
- Biochemical, molecular biology laboratory experience: basic techniques, PCR, DNA and RNA work,
- Basic knowledge of bioinformatics, working use of databases, such as NCBI, Ensembl, UCSC, etc,
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point. Knowledge of R is an asset,
- Written and spoken English,
- Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision,
- Organizing own work and work of others,
- Excellent work ethics.
Additional information
Status: Temporary, part-time (14-21 hours)
Pay Scale: $27.32 - $50.74/ per hour. Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Variable Schedule
2-3 days per week from 9 am to 5 pm
Work Site: GLEN Site, 1001 boul. Decarie
