Position Summary

BCIT’s School of Health Sciences is seeking a temporary, part-time (0.4 FTE ) Research Assistant, Nursing . The Research Assistant supports the exploration and research of the role domains within Nursing and Allied Health. Assists in conducting and contributing to all elements of research including supporting the scope review, environmental scans, ethics preparations, collection and compilation of data, and in preparing and supporting the delivery of presentations and related activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Works collaboratively with members of the SoHS research team and under the guidance of senior team members, conducts various research tasks as outlined and communicated by the research team.
  • Contributes to the team by providing research support and assistance in all elements of Nursing and Allied Health research activities such as : preparation of project documentation including progress and final detailed reports, ethics preparation, collection and presentation of data as required / requested by the SoHS.
  • Participates in workshops for the purpose of supporting the dissemination of research findings and emerging trends for the BCIT community and / or industry.
  • Maintains professional contact with others engaged in related research to keep current in research directions and developments and to support the identification of new research / project opportunities.
  • Complies with the student research assistant confidentiality expectations as well as BCIT Policies, including but not limited to, Student Code of Conduct (Non-Academic), Research Ethics for Human Participants, Integrity in Research, and Intellectual Property.
  • Attends team meetings to contribute, share insights and learning and provide support in the advancement of research projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS : Education :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related program.
  • Knowledge of ethical principles and guidelines related to research involving human subjects. Completion of TCPS 2 : CORE .

Experience :

  • A minimum of one year of foundational research experience in research to actively contribute to various aspects of the research process.

Computer Applications & Experiences :

  • Proficiency in using various software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) including : Research Information Systems ( RISE ), Statistical Analysis Software ( SPSS ), and NVIVO qualitative data analysis computer software.

Communication / Interpersonal Skills :

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to a positive and inclusive work culture.

Other Skills / Attributes :

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrates respect, understanding, diversity, equity, inclusion and an appreciation for diverse perspectives in education and healthcare settings.

Salary Range

Salary Range $58,674 - $74,535 per annum.

Additional Salary Information

Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
