What you'll do
- Perform a variety of established technical procedures according to written protocols.
- Record results, including computer data entry.
- Provide input regarding modification of procedures as requested by the Department Head, Principal Investigator, or designate.
- Maintain and store test materials and products.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- May demonstrate work methods or procedures to less experienced assistants as designated.
What you bring
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a recognized Bachelor's program in an appropriate discipline (e.g., Bachelor of Science) plus two (2) years of recent related experience in a research laboratory.
- Demonstrated understanding of the impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples within social and health contexts, with a commitment to anti-racism and cultural safety.
- Knowledge of legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous rights and anti-racism initiatives in BC Cancer contexts, including TRC Calls to Action, In Plain Sight, BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, UNDRIP, and others.
Core Competencies:
- Understanding of Indigenous-specific racism and systemic racism in healthcare; demonstrated leadership in fostering an environment of belonging.
- Ability to embed Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility into work practices, creating respectful and trusting relationships with Indigenous patients.
- Commitment to ongoing education on Indigenous health issues, cultural safety, and DEI principles.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities affecting Indigenous Peoples, and familiarity with relevant legislative and policy frameworks.
You have:
- A deep understanding of personal learning journeys related to Indigenous-specific racism and systems of oppression, with the ability to articulate and share this to inspire others.
- Knowledge of the realities of settler colonialism and impacts on Indigenous peoples, with a commitment to upholding legislative obligations and provincial commitments.

- Salary Range: $57,347 - $75,268 per year, prorated for part-time roles
- Location: 675 West 10th Avenue, Vancouver, BC
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
