Major Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Manager, Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Compliance, the primary functions include assisting with projects related to environmental, health, and safety compliance management.
- Conduct research and analysis on environmental, health, and safety compliance topics.
- Prepare briefing materials, discussion papers, technical syntheses, and correspondence.
- Review literature and reports to assess impacts on Toronto Water operations.
- Compile, analyze, and report statistical data; conduct surveys as needed.
- Prepare reports and studies for management and Council.
- Develop summaries using statistical, economical, and scientific analysis.
- Assist in budget preparation, track expenditures, and maintain records.
- Monitor regulatory changes and support capital project compliance.
- Develop and maintain document and records management systems.
- Manage spreadsheets and databases, analyze performance data.
- Prepare RFPs, tenders, and quotations for projects and services.
- Monitor and administer contracts.
- Support project activities, including meetings, documentation, and liaison.
- Provide information to external organizations and respond to inquiries.
- Develop and deliver presentations.
Key Qualifications
- University or college degree in environmental studies/science/engineering, health and safety, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with environmental and health and safety legislation or management systems (e.g., ISO 9000, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001).
- Experience reviewing and summarizing legislative and policy documents.
- Experience with records management systems.
- Experience conducting statistical data analysis.
- Proficiency with software tools (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, MS Project) for analysis, reporting, and project tracking.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to analyze and present environmental, health, and safety data effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of the City’s financial policies, SAP, and Council procedures.
- Discretion and judgment handling sensitive information.
