Major Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Manager, Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Compliance, the primary functions include assisting with projects related to environmental, health, and safety compliance management.
  • Conduct research and analysis on environmental, health, and safety compliance topics.
  • Prepare briefing materials, discussion papers, technical syntheses, and correspondence.
  • Review literature and reports to assess impacts on Toronto Water operations.
  • Compile, analyze, and report statistical data; conduct surveys as needed.
  • Prepare reports and studies for management and Council.
  • Develop summaries using statistical, economical, and scientific analysis.
  • Assist in budget preparation, track expenditures, and maintain records.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and support capital project compliance.
  • Develop and maintain document and records management systems.
  • Manage spreadsheets and databases, analyze performance data.
  • Prepare RFPs, tenders, and quotations for projects and services.
  • Monitor and administer contracts.
  • Support project activities, including meetings, documentation, and liaison.
  • Provide information to external organizations and respond to inquiries.
  • Develop and deliver presentations.
Key Qualifications
  • University or college degree in environmental studies/science/engineering, health and safety, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with environmental and health and safety legislation or management systems (e.g., ISO 9000, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001).
  • Experience reviewing and summarizing legislative and policy documents.
  • Experience with records management systems.
  • Experience conducting statistical data analysis.
  • Proficiency with software tools (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, MS Project) for analysis, reporting, and project tracking.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to analyze and present environmental, health, and safety data effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of the City’s financial policies, SAP, and Council procedures.
  • Discretion and judgment handling sensitive information.
