Procor also operates 27 repair locations servicing the petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers and food markets.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Fosters and sustains a successful and productive workplace for all employees by demonstrating a strong commitment to the organization’s cultural beliefs and purpose.
  • To use and teach the Daily Management System Tier 1 and Tier 2 process to uncover obstacles and identify lean tool usage opportunities, as well as facilitate actions with your team.
  • Ensure team understands Plant KPI’s and how they affect them.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to all direct reports.
  • Ensure safety, quality and production goals are met for the department(s).
  • Assign work for their department(s) to meet production schedule.
  • Evaluate employee performance, including probationary employees.
  • Ensure employees have the required certifications.
  • Ensure all work is performed to regulatory and customer standards.
  • Consistently and fairly enforce contractual requirements, shop rules and policies.
  • Hold daily Toolbox Meetings to keep your workforce knowledgeable
  • Provide accurate reporting of labor and material supplemental repairs.
  • Comply with CBA.
  • Ensure employees have training and required certifications including A11 and PPE safety certifications.
  • Lead and facilitate Toolbox meetings to you ‘workforce’.
  • Manage supply spend and waste
  • Conduct 30-, 60- and 90-day performance evaluations on employees.
  • Perform hold point inspections.
  • Manage and communicate employee attendance and points coaching.
  • Assign labour schedule with their department.
  • Ensure operator daily maintenance.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERTISE :

  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of railcar repair techniques, AAR and DOT rules and regulations would be an asset.
  • Familiar with relevant railcar standards and regulations published by AAR, CGSB, DOT, BOE, FRA as well as Canadian TDG Act and regulations would be an asset.
  • Railcar Repair experience would be an asset.
  • PC proficient in a Windows environment - familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook & PowerPoint
  • Welding knowledge and experience
  • Proven safety performance record
  • Union relations experience. Heavy communication.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving abilities . Makes difficult decisions in a timely manner. Takes charge of a group when it is necessary to facilitate change, overcome an impasse, face issues, or ensure that decisions are made. Applies knowledge of discipline to create solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities. Provides advice and guidance. Handles issues by communicating clearly and calmly and works to create agreement. Uses communication, proactively and strategically, to enable team performance. Shares information and creates meaning and understanding on an individual and team level.
  • Effective at building relationships and collaboration . Participates in, and contributes to, team efforts and efficiency. Connects easily with others. Is a strong team player. Is sought after by others for involvement in collaborative efforts.
  • Positive and energizing attitude . Sustains and communicates a positive energy and demonstrates a sensitivity and understanding of the diversity of others to establish and maintain effective relationships with others.   • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative. Identifies what needs to be done and does it before being asked to or required by the situation.
  • Valid Driver’s license is required.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with continuous exposure to outdoor weather conditions with dust, fumes, and noise. Must be able to climb, stoop, and bend repeatedly, work in confined spaces, carry hand and power tools, and pass company physical including pulmonary function and drug screen.
  • Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada.
