(NYSE: PWR | Fortune 184) is North America’s largest specialty contractor, with highly trained and skilled professionals providing infrastructure solutions for the electric power, underground utility, renewable energy, industrial, and telecommunications industries. Quanta Canada Renewables (QCR), a division of Quanta Services, delivers premier turnkey solutions for the full engineering and construction of utility‑scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects in Canada. Join us to play a pivotal role in shaping a people‑centered energy transition, building a sustainable future for generations to come.

Position Overview

The Estimator will play a critical role in the planning, coordination, and development of detailed cost estimates for utility‑scale renewable energy projects, with a particular focus on wind projects. This role requires demonstrated experience in estimating utility‑scale wind projects (100 MW+). The Estimator will collaborate with the Project Manager and Construction Manager to assess contractor and labor needs, analyze project profitability, and prepare pricing proposals specifically for utility‑scale wind projects. This position will leverage Quanta’s Renewable Energy Platform (QREP) to drive consistency and profitability across all QCR projects while leading the estimation processes for high‑impact wind energy projects. This position is also anticipated to participate in utility‑scale solar estimates and supporting preconstruction activities including budgeting, scheduling, client management, vendor qualification and management, and procurement coordination.

Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Estimation for Wind Projects
  • Use prior experience in >100 MW wind project estimation to create accurate, crew‑based production estimates, integrating historical productivity data for proposals.
  • Develop comprehensive project‑specific schedules and execution plans with the Project Manager and construction staff, focusing on the unique needs of 100 MW+ wind projects.
  • Prepare detailed bid reviews, including estimation methodology and risk assessments, ensuring clarity and precision for large‑scale renewable projects.
  • Collaborate closely with the engineering team to ensure that designs meet constructability standards for wind projects.
Client Coordination and Communication
  • Execute on the Quanta model to deliver utility‑scale renewable energy projects safely, on time, and within budget, fostering strong client satisfaction.
  • Guide clients through project estimates, ensuring alignment around project scope, schedules, and budgetary requirements, particularly for wind project needs.
  • Act as a client liaison for wind estimates, providing clear, collaborative communication and responsive support to ensure project alignment.
Procurement & Vendor Management
  • Collaborate with procurement and project development teams on vendor bids, focusing on partnerships critical for wind energy projects.
  • Develop subcontractor and supplier scopes, price, and schedule requirements tailored for wind projects, ensuring optimal performance and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Engage with local and First Nation bidding efforts to build community partnerships and leverage regional expertise.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience leading and developing estimates of 100 MW+ utility‑scale wind projects.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for cross‑functional teamwork, particularly within wind project‑focused teams.
  • In‑depth understanding of project design, EPC processes, and crew‑based estimating specific to large‑scale wind installations.
  • Proficiency with estimating and scheduling software, such as Primavera P6 and Hard Dollar (InEight), is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a focus on mentoring junior staff in wind project estimation techniques and best practices.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ Years’ experience in Renewable Energy Estimation.
  • Comprehensive experience in estimating and planning for large‑scale power generation projects, specifically 100 MW+ wind projects.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment specific to wind energy construction, as well as familiarity with engineering, scheduling, and contracting processes relevant to wind project estimation.
Location and Work Environment

The Estimator is an office‑based role out of QCR’s head office in Calgary, AB. Travel to project sites will be required for proposal development and throughout project execution.
