Job summary

Matrix Camps and Logistics is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic for winter ice road operations at remote camps in Canada. Location Bathurst Inlet, Nunavut, with a 3-weeks-on/3-weeks-off schedule. Travel includes paid flights, hotel, per diem for travel days, and paid travel days.

You will maintain loaders, dozers, excavators, graders, SnowCats, Haul trucks, and other fleet equipment to production readiness. The role requires Red Seal, 3–5 years mining equipment experience, and strong CAT diagnostics

Qualifications

• Red Seal / Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic is required.
• 3–5 years mining equipment maintenance experience is required.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining surface fleet equipment.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical and electrical systems, and diesel powertrains.
• CAT ET and CAT SIS proficiency required.
• Valid safety training (WHMIS, LOTO) and site-specific credentials.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on surface fleet equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults.
• Troubleshoot electronic and control system issues using manufacturer diagnostics (CAT ET and CAT SIS).
• Maintain diesel powertrain components and hydraulic systems.
• Complete inspections and work orders with accurate documentation.
• Follow service manuals and ensure repairs meet safety standards.
• Respond to breakdowns and support planned shutdowns within production timelines.
• Adhere to site safety procedures (LOTO, confined space where applicable).
• Participate in failure analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
