Job summary

Toromont Cat is seeking a Remote Site Technician for underground mining equipment at Musselwhite, Thunder Bay, ON. You will diagnose, repair and assemble Caterpillar underground mining gear, while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

The role offers a 14/14 rotation with shift and remote site premiums, and opportunities to grow through Toromont’s internal training. Competitive total rewards include wages, benefits and premiums where eligible.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in heavy equipment or diesel mechanics.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a technician in repair and service of underground mining and earthmoving equipment.
• Provincial red seal license in heavy equipment mechanics (421A) or truck & coach mechanics (310T).
• Experience in repair and maintenance of underground mining equipment (resume must show this).
• Underground common core is highly desirable.

The Remote Site Technicians will safely and effectively diagnose, repair and or assemble all Caterpillar underground mining and earthmoving equipment in a timely manner while ensuring high quality standards and positive customer relations.

**14/14 rotation schedule ( Shift and Remote Site premiums apply)

In a typical day, YOU will:

• Participate in safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviors at all times, in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives
• Diagnose mechanical problems using Caterpillar testing equipment
• Repair and/or assemble allied or competitive underground earth moving equipment as required within established time lines and quality standards
• Prepare service reports and service documentation in an accurate and timely manner
• Participate as an integrated member of onsite mechanical staff
• Maintain good customer relations
• Comply with company and customer health and safety policies and procedures

Must-haves for this role:

• Post-secondary education in the field of heavy equipment, heavy vehicle or heavy engine mechanics
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Technician in repair and service of underground mining and earth moving equipment
• Provincial red seal license in heavy equipment mechanics (421A) or truck & coach mechanics (310T)
• Experience in the repair and maintenance of underground mining equipment (Experience must be shown on resume)
• Underground common core (big asset)
