Job summary

Hive.co is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to shape our data and ML platforms at scale. You’ll own end-to-end data pipelines, build an auditable ML stack, and design cloud-native systems that deliver reliable insights for millions of attendees and billions of interactions annually.

In this role, you’ll apply LLMs and agentic approaches to production data, partner with product teams, and drive data health and discoverability. Remote-friendly, with a strong emphasis on performance and impact.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on data engineering experience designing, building and operating large-scale distributed data and ML systems in production.
• Core ML foundations (supervised/unsupervised, validation, metrics) and common algorithms (regression, ensembles, clustering).
• Feature engineering with Python ML tooling (pandas, scikit-learn; familiarity with PyTorch or TensorFlow).
• Production ML pipelines and feature datasets feeding model training and inference.
• MLOps practices: experiment tracking, model versioning/registry, deployment, and monitoring for drift/data quality.
• Strong foundations in distributed systems principles—partitioning, consistency, backpressure, fault tolerance, and capacity planning at scale.
• Experience applying LLMs and agentic systems in production data/ML contexts.
• A product and commercial orientation—frame decisions by customer impact and business outcomes, with cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Build the Data Platform: design and own a cloud-native big data platform handling audience data at scale.
• Build the ML Platform: own infrastructure for moving models from experiment to production, including feature stores and monitoring.
• Own the Full Pipeline end-to-end from Change Data Capture through validation, transformation, and denormalization.
• Treat Data as a Product: ship data products with SLAs and strong data health.
• Build and leverage agentic systems, using AI tooling to enrich, classify, and act on data at scale.
