Placements24 is seeking a highly competent Remote Electrical Design Engineer for a forward-thinking utility solutions provider. You will design electrical systems for power grid modernization, perform power system studies, and develop schematics, while collaborating with teams remotely.

The ideal candidate has a degree in electrical engineering (power systems), 6+ years of experience, proficiency with PSS/E, DIgSILENT, or ETAP, and strong knowledge of grid codes and protection principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization.
• Min 6 years of experience in electrical power systems engineering, with a focus on transmission and distribution.
• Advanced proficiency in PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP.
• Strong understanding of grid codes, protection principles, and control systems.
• Experience with SCADA, substation automation, and renewable energy integration is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration is a significant asset.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for grid modernization, including distribution automation and substations.
• Perform power system studies: load flow, short-circuit, fault, transient stability analysis.
• Create detailed schematics, single-line diagrams, protection schemes, and equipment specs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients in a virtual environment.
• Evaluate equipment to improve grid reliability and efficiency.
• Ensure designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical support during procurement, installation, and commissioning.
• Develop project documentation and technical manuals.
• Keep up with trends in power systems and smart grids.
• Mentor junior engineers and share expertise.
