Affim is hiring a remote-first Software Engineer II to help bring customer-facing features and the backend services behind Affim Card to life. You’ll join a curious, collaborative team focused on reliable checkout experiences and scalable architecture.

The role emphasizes breaking work into phases, collaborating across product, design, and analytics, and owning end-to-end outcomes with clear, tested code. A strong emphasis on ownership and communication across a global team is expected.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems.
• Proficient in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes.
• Experience shipping web apps with React or Vue.
• Experience building APIs at scale with Python or Kotlin.
• Ability to own problems and write clear, tested, extensible code.
• Comfort debugging large code bases and providing code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Break down large projects into tasks and deliver in phases.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics to align on constraints and decisions.
• Support operations and keep services healthy with metrics and on-call readiness.
