Affim is a remote-first company in Canada seeking a Software Engineer II to bring customer-facing features to life and power the backend services behind Affim Card. You will turn complex payment journeys into reliable, scalable software using Python or Kotlin, and frontend tech like React or Vue.

You will collaborate with product, design, and analytics, break down large projects, write clean, tested code, and help keep systems healthy with on-call support and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems; proficient in Python or Kotlin.
Familiar with distributed systems; AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
Experience shipping web apps with React or Vue.
Experience designing, developing and launching APIs at scale in Python or Kotlin.

Responsibilities

Break down projects into tasks with your team; deliver in phases.
Collaborate with product, design and analytics to articulate constraints and trade-offs.
Support operations by monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and keeping services reliable.
Contribute to team growth through interview involvement and peer feedback.
