Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Remote Environmental Scientist to assess and mitigate mining-related environmental impacts from a home office. Lead EIAs and EMPs, monitor water and air quality, and ensure regulatory compliance while supporting sustainable mining practices and CSR initiatives.

You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and regulatory bodies to address environmental concerns and develop mitigation strategies, delivering high-quality reports and recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 6 years in environmental consulting or mining-related work.
  • Proven experience with EIAs and EMPs.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and permitting.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct EIAs for mining projects and existing sites.
  • Develop and implement EMPs to reduce ecological footprints.
  • Monitor water, air, and biodiversity parameters at mine sites.

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Remote Environmental Scientist to join their team and play a critical role in assessing and mitigating the environmental impact of mining activities. In this fully remote position, you will analyze environmental data, conduct impact assessments, and develop strategies to ensure regulatory compliance and promote sustainable mining practices. Your expertise will be vital in guiding the company towards environmentally responsible operations, contributing significantly to conservation efforts and corporate social responsibility from your home office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for new and existing mining projects.
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans (EMPs) to minimize ecological footprints.
  • Monitor environmental parameters such as water quality, air quality, and biodiversity at mine sites.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Prepare detailed environmental reports, including findings, recommendations, and compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and regulatory bodies to address environmental concerns and implement mitigation measures.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or PhD in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental consulting or management, with a strong focus on the mining sector.
  • Proven expertise in conducting EIAs and developing EMPs.
  • Thorough understanding of environmental legislation and permitting processes relevant to mining.
  • Experience with environmental modeling and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills for effective remote work.
