Join the City of Medicine Hat as a Storekeeper I Temporary (Up to 6 Months) | Part-Time | On-site Starting at $32.07/hour Our Storekeeper I is an entry-level role that that plays an important role in supporting City operations by ensuring materials, equipment, and supplies are received, stored, tracked, and distributed efficiently. Working within City Stores, this position supports inventory management, shipping and receiving, and warehouse operations while collaborating with departments across the organization to help keep essential services running smoothly. How you'll own it
  • Receive, inspect, shelf, issue, and distribute stock using a computerized inventory control system.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through routine cycle counts and inventory audits.
  • Pick up, prepare, and deliver supplies to City departments as required.
  • Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling tools.
  • Maintain warehouse, yard, and office areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
  • Work with suppliers, delivery personnel, and internal customers to ensure timely movement of materials.
  • Support inventory control and purchasing processes while adhering to established procedures.
  • Assist with records management, procedure maintenance, and other operational support duties.
  • Contribute to a safe work environment by following OH&S legislation and the City's Health, Safety and Environment Management System.

  • Knowledge of inventory management practices and purchasing procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn ERP and inventory management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling inventory transactions and records.
  • Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
  • High standards of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Physical capability to perform warehouse-related duties and material handling tasks.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations is considered an asset.
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of related work experience, preferably in a warehouse, stores, shipping/receiving, or inventory environment.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen, which includes testing for cannabis use.
