Job summary

Ed Seguin & Sons is seeking an experienced Estimator to turn project concepts into accurate, competitive estimates for roads, earthworks, underground infrastructure, aggregates, trucking and surface mining services.

The role is remote and part-time, with about 20–30 hours per week and daytime coordination with an experienced operations team. Southern Ontario-based candidates are encouraged to apply. Employment through a staffing agency is the preferred arrangement.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of heavy civil estimating experience.
• Strong knowledge of roadbuilding, earthworks or underground infrastructure.
• Experience with crushing, aggregates, drilling and blasting, or surface mining is an asset.
• Proficiency in Excel and digital takeoff tools such as Bluebeam.
• Ability to prepare detailed estimates independently, explain assumptions clearly and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports and tender requirements.
• Preparing quantity takeoffs and detailed labour, equipment, material and subcontractor estimates.
• Obtaining and comparing supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Working with operations to establish practical construction methods, production rates and schedules.
• Identifying scope gaps, risks, assumptions and opportunities to improve competitiveness.
• Preparing bid documents and handing off awarded estimates to the project team.
