Job summary

Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Society Centre is seeking a casual Security role in Calgary, AB. The position supports staffing coverage for vacations, sick leave, and other absences, with day and night shifts from 7AM–7PM and 7PM–7AM.

You will protect clients, staff and visitors by patrolling, monitoring CCTV and maintaining a safe environment, while applying de-escalation and empathetic, client-centered approaches.

Qualifications

• Alberta Security License is mandatory.
• Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C (or A) certification required within 30 days of start.
• Experience in distress or high-stress situations, including emergency response.
• Strong time management and organizational skills with multiple priorities.
• Ability to stay calm and focused in volatile situations.
• Sound decision-making and critical thinking when information is unclear.
• Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiating skills.
• Commitment to mission, vision and values of the agency.

Responsibilities

• Foster a safe, welcoming environment with dignity for all.
• Maintain calm, respectful conduct in high-pressure situations using non-violent strategies.
• Engage with clients, volunteers, donors, and community members empathetically.
• Monitor and patrol the facility; coordinate with control room and responders.
• Provide visible 24/7 security presence and respond to safety needs.
