The Salvation Army is seeking a Custodian for a relief position at its Centre of Hope in downtown Calgary. The role delivers sanitation, cleaning and custodial services to maintain a healthy environment across indoor and outdoor areas.
Tasks include lifting items, cleaning floors, windows, washrooms, and offices, with laundry service as needed. Hours vary; work is performed in a shelter setting with exposure to weather, cleaning chemicals, and potential safety risks.

The Custodian position provides required sanitation, cleaning, and custodial service to custodial standards ensuring that the building environment is healthy and comfortable.
This is a relief position and hours may vary, on as needed basis. Location is in our Centre of Hope, downtown Calgary in a men’s residential shelter, indoors and outdoors. Exposed to weather as work is done indoors and outdoors in all seasons. The work environment is typically in the entire facility and property designated. Moving furniture, pushing, and pulling, as well as lifting items up to 50 lbs. Handles garbage and cleans up human waste and biohazardous substances. Exposure to odours, toxic chemicals, electrical hazards and infectious diseases. May deal with aggressive people and may experience verbal, and less likely, physical attacks Risk of needle pricks, back injuries, and repetitive strain injuries.
The target hiring range for this position is $17.45 to $21.81 with a maximum of $26.17. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
