JOB OPPORTUNITY - Relief School Bus Driver

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The School Bus Driver is responsible for transporting students safely while maintaining a professional attitude and serving as a positive role model. The driver will also provide transportation for field trips and organized events, with basic knowledge of bus maintenance and mechanics.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

The School Bus Driver reports directly to the School Principal.

AREA OF SUPERVISION:

Supervision of all bus passengers, including students and adults.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

• Student transportation
• Safety
• Bus maintenance

Job Qualifications:

• Possess necessary qualifications and proven ability to operate a bus safely with respectful behavior.
• Hold a valid license to operate a 76-passenger bus (Class 1).
• Able to use or learn to use CB Radio for monitoring traffic on logging roads.
• Enjoy working with children, community members, and school staff.
• Have communication skills to coordinate effectively with students, drivers, faculty, and parents.
• Maintain a safe driving record and keep daily logs of mileage and fuel.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot basic bus maintenance and mechanical issues.
• ICBC Driver’s abstract required.
• Criminal record check required.

Length of Employment & Wages:

This is an on-call position with varying hours (approximately 5-6 hours per day depending on program needs). Wages will be discussed during the hiring process.
