Job summary

Imperial Oil invites applications for a Reliability Engineer position at the Cold Lake asset in Alberta. You will join the Upstream team to protect asset reliability, support safety, and drive uptime through data-driven improvements.

The role emphasizes collaboration with operations, maintenance, and engineering, with opportunities for professional growth and hands-on problem solving in a leadership-capable environment.

Qualifications

  • Canadian accredited (or equivalent) engineering degree.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Able to work individually, as well as in a team situation, with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to safety on and off the job.

Responsibilities

  • Work with multi-functional engineering, operations, and maintenance teams, both in Canada and overseas, to support our reliability programs.
  • Analyze equipment performance and failure trends to identify reliability issues and recommend practical solutions that improve safety, uptime, and efficiency.
  • Support root cause investigations for equipment failures and operational issues, working with cross-functional teams to determine causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain reliability strategies including condition monitoring programs for critical assets.
  • Use data and performance metrics to track equipment health, identify improvement opportunities, and support asset management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Opportunities for growth (e.g. training, mentorship, studies/projects, other engineering or asset team roles)
