Job summary

FedEx Trade Networks Canada is seeking a Release Analyst to manage the classification of goods for customs release, ensuring compliance with regulations. You will verify tariff treatments, maintain databases, and communicate with clients and internal departments.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma combined with 2 years of college, a Certified Customs Specialist Designation, and at least 5 years of experience. A strong knowledge of MS Office and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Position Summary
  • Obtain correct HS classification of goods for customs release using database, tariff book, internet or customer sources.
  • Verify tariff treatment at B‑3 level to determine proper tariff application; if an import permit is required, use the electronic internet program to acquire necessary information.
  • Enter all entries at Release on Minimum Documentation Duplicated (RMD) level for Other Government Departments (OGD) such as CFIA, Natural Resources & Ministry of Transport; set up entries on ACROSS and occasionally on paper, including seeking AIRS codes for CFIA, Y‑50’s and voluntary entries.
  • Update 1Source and FXG Hit list databases with clearance and client information.
  • Verify that shipments are Customs released and advise clients of shipment status when necessary; enter shipment data into computer system, obtain credit release and ensure entry is transmitted to customs.
  • Ensure that option 161 (rejects) are checked throughout the day on a regular basis.
  • Complete and submit CADEX report, CADEX rejects day 5, 4, 3 to customs and review CADEX report for day 4 & 5 entries to ensure timely completion.
  • Communicate with internal departments to obtain required permits.
  • Perform any other duties as advised by Manager.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma and 2 years of College.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Release Analyst with a Certified Customs Specialist Designation.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment (fax machine/ photocopiers / printers / scanners). Knowledge of the AS 400 system is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Continuous keyboarding and regular communication with customers, government departments, and internal staff via telephone, fax and email.
