Position Title: Rehabilitation Consultant
Reports To: Rehabilitation Manager
Department : Group
Term: Permanent Full-Time
Work Arrangements: You will work from your home office 100% of the time. You may be required to be in-person at our office in Waterloo, ON or another assigned location within the Waterloo Region, on an as needed basis. Sales related roles may be required to travel based on the assignment.

In this role, you’ll be the vital link between plan members, healthcare providers, employers, and our internal Disability team. You’ll guide individuals through their recovery journey with a focus on disability management, functional-focused rehabilitation, and employability.

What you will be doing:
- Analyze medical, functional, employment and contractual information to create and implement appropriate rehabilitation programs to facilitate functional recovery and return to work
- Collaborate with disability claims specialist and leaders throughout rehabilitation plan to align timelines, identify and address barriers, co-ordinate return to work planning, discuss and confirm case management next steps.
- Regularly connect with plan members to enhance relationship/ trust and understand the relevant issues
- Build rapport and provide return to work support with plan sponsors
- Provide superior written and verbal client service with accuracy.
- Maintain well-documented, clear and concise files.
- Conduct in person plan member assessments or workplace meetings as appropriate
- Handle emotional situations mostly by phone.
- Maintain accurate metrics
- Participate in key projects as they relate to rehabilitation programs, plan member recovery, and other team related initiatives
- Participate in regular strategic planning including review of results, metrics, processes, interventions, resources with the intent of identifying program improvement opportunities.
What you will bring:
- Post -secondary education with preference to health sciences, human sciences, disability management
- Rehabilitation training and experience in the context of disability management with a focus on care and empathy
- A passion for wellness / lifestyle coaching/ counselling/ mental health recovery
- Experience with mental health recovery
- Experience with goal setting and reactivation concepts
- Proficient stakeholder relationship and communication skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of evidence-based rehabilitation options, industry trends, disability best practice
- Analytical skills with a curious mind for continuous improvement
- Knowledge of group insurance products and disability policies
- Proficient organization and time management skills
- Computer literacy skills including Microsoft Outlook/Excel, e file systems, workload management
- Effective negotiating and conflict management skills
- Strong interpersonal and client service skills
- Motivational interviewing skills
- Bilingual skills would be an asset
- Knowledge of compliance practices as it relates to handling confidential information
