Job summary

St. Joseph's Health System in Hamilton is seeking a part-time Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapist Assistant to join Physiotherapy Services.

The role may be scheduled at Charlton Campus or Satellite Health Facility in Hamilton Downtown, with an hourly rate of CAD 37.30 to 38.78. You will support registered therapists, assist with transfers and mobility training, conduct ADL retraining, and help collect data for assessments.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapist Assistant 2-year diploma program.
  • PTA/OTA certification recognized by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO) and the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within an interprofessional team with multiple therapists and units.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the registered therapist with transfer and mobility training and promote independence.
  • Assist in ADL retraining to maximize client independence.
  • Collect data for assessment and reassessment.
  • Administer modalities as directed by the Physiotherapist (ice/heat, TENS, hydrotherapy, etc.).
  • Reinforce education regarding energy conservation and use of assistive devices.
