Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Rehabilitation Assistant to join the Purdy Pavilions Long Term Care Team at UBC Hospital in Vancouver. The role supports OT/PT care plans, teaching activities, and assisting residents to maximize independence in daily living skills.

Responsibilities include implementing lower-risk interventions, documenting observations, organizing equipment, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.

Job description

The salary range for this position is CAD $32.84/Hr. - CAD $32.84/Hr.

Come work as a Rehabilitation Assistant with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as part of the Purdy Pavilions Long Term Care Team at UBC Hospital.

Within the context of a patient/client/resident and family centred care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, this position functions under the operational supervision of the Program Manager, the practice supervision of the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Practice Coordinators and the work direction of designated occupational therapist and physiotherapist, in coordination with the other interdisciplinary team members to carry out established rehabilitative activities in both occupational therapy (OT) and physiotherapy (PT) scopes of practice. Responsibilities include receiving assignments and implementing lower risk interventions related to the clinical aspects of OT/PT care plans, demonstrating and teaching activities, adapting devices to enable patients/clients/residents to maximize their potential for independence, providing functional direction to patient/client/residents and family, and assisting with practicing daily living skills. Reports relevant observations of patient/client/resident progress and behaviours, provides direction to volunteers, organizes and cleans equipment and supplies for activities, and maintains established inventory of supplies.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
