Qualifications

Right now we are looking for a Rehabilitation Assistant to work with our Allied Health Services Team.

Employment Status: Temporary Part Time

Duration: June 10, 2026 (Subject to change as per Management Rights)

Hours of Work: Available to work rotating shifts (Monday to Friday, Weekends & Statutory Holidays)

Location: Humber River Health, Wilson Site

Labour Group: OPSEU 590

Reporting Relationship: Manager of Allied Health Services & Outpatient Rehab

Hourly Rate: $29.77 - $35.15

Responsibilities
  • Assisting Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists with patient treatment on Inpatients within the Medicine Program, with occasional assistance within the inpatient Surgical program.
  • Assisting with patient lifting, transferring, and transporting as required.
  • Providing assigned, delegated treatment regimes.
  • Adherence to all delegated responsibilities.
  • Preparing patients for treatment.
  • Assisting the therapist in related duties.
  • Maintaining timely charting and workload measurement.
  • Monitoring and maintaining equipment.
  • Performing general equipment monitoring and departmental duties such as light cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
  • Clinical supervision of students, including OTA/PTA students, in collaboration with the PT or OT.
Requirements
  • Current experience at HRH as a Rehab Assistant or a graduate from a recognized PTA and OTA Certificate/Diploma program.
  • Ability to work well under supervision and maintain delegation responsibilities as mandated by the Ontario College of Physiotherapists and the Ontario College of Occupational Therapists.
  • Experience in an acute hospital setting preferred.
  • Experience working with an active inpatient population is an asset.
  • Effective communication skills and teamwork.
  • Capability to bend, stretch, and lift while assisting patients.
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods.
  • Organized and able to complete tasks within time frames.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Availability for scheduled weekend work may be required.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline-free record required.
