The Rehab Restorative Therapist reports to the Programs Manager and provides therapy services to residents under the guidance of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, and supervises Nursing Restorative Services when applicable.

Responsibilities

• Complete initial assessments for ambulation, ROM, exercise, and equipment needs, ensuring accurate documentation and developing policies and procedures for rehab programs.
• Deliver restorative care under the direction of Physiotherapists and/or Occupational Therapists.
• Develop and implement programs to meet residents' physical needs, including walking, ROM exercises, and group activities.
• Monitor referrals, modify programs as needed, and evaluate the effectiveness of therapy plans.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to establish and update restorative care plans.
• Order and maintain assistive devices, ensuring proper upkeep and cleanliness.
• Participate in meetings, care conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain effective communication with residents, families, staff, and volunteers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Completed or enrolled in a restorative care training program or relevant courses provided by the Home.
• Experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
• Strong commitment to residents’ well-being and ability to develop and evaluate programs.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literacy, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
• Knowledge of RAI-MDS; AIS certification preferred or to be completed within one year.
• Ability to interact empathetically and turn tasks into positive social interactions.
• Legal and health requirements: Vulnerable Sector Check, TB test or X-ray, proof of vaccines, and references.
