Bayshore HealthCare is seeking a Rehab Assistant in Toronto, Ontario, to support patients post-hospital discharge or those living with various health challenges. Candidates should have a recognized education in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy and prioritize patient independence.
The role requires implementing rehabilitation and exercise programs, facilitating daily living activities, and promoting social reintegration. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this fast-paced environment.
The rehab assistant will be responsible for assisting patients who have been discharged from hospital or are living at home, with various illnesses, impairments and injuries.
The Rehab Assistant reports to the Director Therapy & Rehabilitation, Manager of Rehab, or designate as appropriate.
Completion of a recognized Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and/or Rehabilitation Assistant college program.
Also considers a university degree in Kinesiology or a similar health care degree.
OTA/PTA education is an asset. Job experience specific to acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, and musculoskeletal injuries, WSIB and auto insurance are assets.
The Rehab Assistant must demonstrate ongoing competency in completing all duties and responsibilities of this job description, in response to changes by the regulating body, as well as agreed‑upon specific goals and objectives.
Performance will be reviewed on an ongoing basis with a formal review if required. Input will be sought from employees and consultants at the branch and National Service Centre as applicable.
