Job summary

The Law Society of BC is seeking a temporary, full-time Professional Regulation Officer for a 9-month term in Vancouver. The role supports the Chief Legal Officer and supervises the Professional Regulation team, contributing to national regulatory projects.

The position requires a paralegal program or related degree with at least 5 years of experience, strong legal research and writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex files.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized paralegal program or equivalent.
• Advanced legal research, writing and analytical skills.
• Ability to handle and prioritize a high volume of work.
• Project management, policy development and legal experience are assets.
• Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage processes for Administrative Penalty Process, Alternative Discipline Process, Rule 10-4 files and s.87 requests.
• Draft memos for the CLO and Professional Regulation, Staff Lawyer.
• Provide training and supervision to the Professional Regulation Coordinator.
• Coordinate the Discipline Committee process and prepare agendas, addendums and orientation materials.
• Prepare reports to Benchers and other groups, including the National Discipline Standards report.
• Support the CLO on special projects and events.
