Job summary

Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia seeks an Enforcement Assistant in Burnaby to support the Legal Counsel and Enforcement Manager in enforcing unauthorized practice and misuse of title prohibitions under the Professional Governance Act.

The role involves handling low to medium risk files, drafting cease and desist communications, and engaging with targets to secure compliance, with a hybrid in-office/remote work arrangement.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in a law firm, legal department, professional regulatory body, or equivalent.
• Education in legal or paralegal studies is an asset.
• Experience handling incoming complaints or correspondence from third-parties in a professional or customer service environment.
• Excellent writing skills, including the ability to independently prepare written correspondence that is polished and formal.
• Experience in interpreting and applying legislation.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to independently review and manage high volumes of material.
• Ability to uphold confidentiality and manage sensitive situations.

Responsibilities

• Take conduct of and resolve low and medium risk enforcement files using strong written and oral advocacy.
• Review complaints in detail, analyze facts, gather information and communicate with complainants and enforcement targets.
• Support the enforcement team with research, data analysis, and KPI reporting as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the LCEM and leadership.
