Job summary

Government of Alberta seeks a Contaminated Sites Regulatory Coordinator to oversee contamination management, guiding regulatory decisions under the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act. You will liaise with stakeholders and ensure alignment with remediation guidelines.

Two positions are available in Edmonton or Calgary, with standard Monday–Friday hours and 36.25 hours per week. A Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering and four years of field experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering; professional designation optional.
• Minimum four (4) years of applied experience conducting environmental assessment on contaminated sites.
• Equivalency: related experience or education may be considered one-for-one.

Responsibilities

• Environmental Assessment - apply expertise to evaluate contaminant distribution in soil, groundwater and soil vapour.
• Risk Screen - conduct regulatory reviews of substance release information to guide remediation expectations.
• Communicate Risk-informed Regulatory Expectations – provide clear regulatory direction to stakeholders.
