Summary

Assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, support pharmacy services, and participate in pharmacy operations according to Pharmacy Standards of Practice. Provide superior, timely, and pleasant service to customers.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Customer Service: Greet customers promptly, gather prescription information, and refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist.
  2. Dispensing: Accurately dispense medications, handle third-party adjudication, and set customer expectations regarding wait times.
  3. Cash Handling: Locate prescriptions, process payments, and maintain confidentiality and privacy.
Administration
  1. Handle prescription orders, prepare and submit orders (excluding controlled drugs), and manage third-party billing.
  2. Answer phones, manage incoming faxes, and file documentation according to standards.
Prescription Workflow
  1. Assist in prescription preparation, data entry, and refill management.
  2. Select, count, package, and label prescriptions accurately.
  3. Maintain data within pharmacy systems.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Registered with the provincial licensing college.
  • Diploma from a Pharmacy Technician College.
  • Previous pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Organizational skills, multitasking ability, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
