Job description

The Way Immigration is a CICC-licensed immigration consulting firm based in Calgary, Alberta, with over 18 years of experience helping clients navigate Canadian immigration pathways. We are one of the pioneering immigration consulting practices in the Calgary market, with a strong reputation built on complex case expertise, client outcomes, and regulatory integrity.

As our practice grows, we are seeking a highly experienced Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) to join our team in a full-time, in-office capacity. This is a senior-level practitioner role suited to someone who thrives on complex files and operates with confidence and autonomy.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The RCIC will independently manage a diverse and demanding caseload spanning the full spectrum of Canadian immigration programs, with particular emphasis on Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applications, Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams, and complex Permanent Residence (PR) matters.

You will be responsible for providing strategic immigration advice, preparing and filing applications, managing client relationships, and staying current with IRCC policy changes. This role requires a practitioner who is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of handling challenging files with minimal supervision. You will work closely with the Principal RCIC and the broader team while independently owning your caseload.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Case Management & Application Preparation
  • Independently manage a full caseload of Canadian immigration applications from initial assessment through to final decision.
  • Prepare, review, and submit high-quality applications with accuracy and strict attention to IRCC requirements and processing standards.
  • Conduct thorough initial assessments to identify the optimal immigration pathway for each client.
  • Develop and execute strategic immigration plans for complex and multi-step cases.
  • Maintain organized, complete, and audit-ready client files at all stages of the process.
LMIA & Employer Services
  • Manage the full LMIA application process from employer eligibility assessment through recruitment documentation, application submission, and ESDC correspondence.
  • Advise employers on LMIA streams including High Wage, Low Wage, Global Talent Stream, and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program.
  • Identify risks, flag compliance requirements, and guide employers through ESDC audit and review processes.
  • Stay current with LMIA policy updates, processing trends, and employer compliance obligations.
Provincial Nominee Programs
  • Manage Alberta PNP streams including AAIP streams (Alberta Opportunity Stream, Rural Renewal Stream, and others).
  • Assess client eligibility across streams and advise on optimal nomination strategy.
  • Prepare nominations, respond to requests for information, and manage provincial correspondence.
  • Monitor Alberta PNP draws, policy changes, and processing updates.
  • Manage Express Entry profiles, Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) strategy, and post-ITA application preparation.
  • Prepare and submit family sponsorship applications including spousal, common-law, conjugal, and dependent child sponsorships.
  • Handle work permit applications across streams including LMIA-exempt categories, PGWPs, and intra-company transfers.
  • Prepare study permit and visitor visa applications, including complex refusal histories.
  • File and manage Permanent Residence applications across applicable federal and provincial pathways.
Complex & Challenging Cases
  • Take ownership of cases involving prior refusals, inadmissibility issues, misrepresentation concerns, or procedural complications.
  • Prepare well-reasoned submissions, legal arguments, and supporting documentation for high-risk or non-standard files.
  • Identify and appropriately escape matters requiring legal counsel.
  • Apply sound judgment and critical thinking to cases where policy interpretation is required.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients throughout all stages of their file.
  • Set accurate expectations regarding timelines, requirements, risks, and outcomes.
  • Conduct paid consultations and provide strategic immigration assessments to prospective clients.
  • Maintain full compliance with CICC's Code of Professional Ethics in all client interactions.
Policy, Compliance & Professional Development
  • Monitor IRCC policy updates, processing bulletins, and regulatory changes on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure all practice activity meets CICC regulatory standards and firm compliance requirements.
  • Maintain active RCIC membership and fulfill annual continuing education requirements.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and file review processes.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Required
  • Active RCIC membership in good standing with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC).
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on, independent experience managing Canadian immigration applications.
  • Demonstrated LMIA expertise across multiple streams with a strong track record of successful outcomes.
  • Solid experience with Alberta PNP streams and federal PR pathways.
  • Broad working knowledge of the full range of Canadian immigration programs including Express Entry, family sponsorships, work permits, study permits, and visitor visas.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, high-risk, or multi-step cases with minimal supervision.
  • Deep understanding of current IRCC policies, processing procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a demanding caseload.
  • Must be based in Calgary or willing to relocate; this is a full-time, in-office position.
