Job summary

Horizon School Division in Taber, Alberta is seeking an Educational Assistant for Dr. Hamman Elementary School to support Kindergarten learners. This part-time role supports teachers with classroom activities, supervision, and student engagement.

The position requires flexibility, compassion, and the ability to assist with personal care as needed; prior experience with basic play-based learning is an asset, with Hanen training as a plus. Hours are Monday and Wednesday 8:30 a.m.

Regular Educational Assistant – approx. 12 hours/week

Hours of work include – Monday & Wednesday 8:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

Dr. Hamman School requires an Educational Assistant for our Kindergarten Program commencing immediately on Monday and Wednesday's 8:30-3:15 pm. A background in working with children in a primary setting is considered an asset. Hanen training and a background in play-based learning are assets.

This position commences as soon as possible.

An EducationalAssistantin Horizon School Division:

• Encourages studentsto develop and maintainpositiveinteraction.
• Maintains confidentialityand a patient, supportive and enthusiasticcommitmentto students.
• As required, provides personal care including toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, grooming, etc. ensuringthat studentdignity is maintained. Attends to physical needs including lifting, positioning, and range of motion programs as identified by appropriate personnel.
• Ensures the safety of students in the school and community, which includes maintaining close supervision of students, ensuring studentequipment is sanitized and put away, retrieving students who attemptto leave their learningenvironment, calming and/or restraining students engaged in challenging behaviours; supervising and assisting studentswho utilize a variety of life skill tools (i.e., scissors, cooking utensils, etc.).
• Maintains collegial relationships with the students' learning team.
