Job summary

Horizon School Division in Taber, Alberta is seeking a Regular Educational Assistant for the Kindergarten program. The role is approx. 12 hours per week, with hours Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m.

to 3:15 p.m., starting immediately. Experience with primary education and Hanen/play-based learning are assets. Responsibilities include supporting students, maintaining confidentiality, assisting with personal care, ensuring safety, and collaborating with the learning team.

• Hanen training and a background in play-based learning are assets.

Responsibilities

• Encourages students to develop and maintain positive interaction.
• Maintains confidentiality and a patient, supportive and enthusiastic commitment to students.
• Provides personal care including toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, grooming, etc., ensuring student dignity is maintained.
• Attends to physical needs including lifting, positioning, and range of motion programs as identified by appropriate personnel.
• Maintains collegial relationships with the students' learning team.

DR. HAMMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - Dr. Hamman Elementary school is located in Taber, Alberta. We have a staff of over 30 including teachers and support staff. Regular Educational Assistant – approx. 12 hours/week

Hours of work include – Monday & Wednesday 8:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

Dr. Hamman School requires an Educational Assistant for our Kindergarten Program commencing immediately on Monday and Wednesday's 8:30-3:15 pm. A background in working with children in a primary setting is considered an asset. Hanen training and a background in play-based learning are assets.

This position commences as soon as possible.

An EducationalAssistantin Horizon School Division:

• Encourages studentsto develop and maintainpositiveinteraction.
• Maintains confidentialityand a patient, supportive and enthusiasticcommitmentto students.
• As required, provides personal care including toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, grooming, etc. ensuringthat studentdignity is maintained. Attends to physical needs including lifting, positioning, and range of motion programs as identified by appropriate personnel.
• Ensures the safety of students in the school and community, which includes maintaining close supervision of students, ensuring studentequipment is sanitized and put away, retrieving students who attemptto leave their learningenvironment, calming and/or restraining students engaged in challenging behaviours; supervising and assisting studentswho utilize a variety of life skill tools (i.e., scissors, cooking utensils, etc.).
• Maintains collegial relationships with the students' learning team.
