Job summary

Horizon School Division in Taber, Alberta is seeking a Casual Educational Assistant to support students with daily learning and personal care needs. This role emphasizes confidentiality, patience, and a positive, safety-conscious stance in the classroom.

As part of a school team, you will assist with activities of daily living, maintain student dignity, and collaborate with teachers and support staff to promote well-being and inclusive learning. Experience in a school setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Assists with personal care including toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, grooming as needed.

Responsibilities

• Encourages students to develop and maintain positive interactions.
• Maintains confidentiality and a patient, supportive approach with students.
• Provides personal care and attends to physical needs as identified by staff.
• Ensures student safety in school and community, including close supervision and supervising life skills activities.
• Maintains collegial relationships with the students' learning team.

An EducationalAssistantin Horizon School Division:

• Encourages studentsto develop and maintainpositiveinteraction.
• Maintains confidentialityand a patient, supportive and enthusiasticcommitmentto students.
• As required, provides personal care including toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, grooming, etc. ensuringthat studentdignity is maintained. Attends to physical needs including lifting, positioning, and range of motion programs as identified by appropriate personnel.
• Ensures the safety of students in the school and community, which includes maintaining close supervision of students, ensuring studentequipment is sanitized and put away, retrieving students who attemptto leave their learningenvironment, calming and/or restraining students engaged in challenging behaviours; supervising and assisting studentswho utilize a variety of life skill tools (i.e., scissors, cooking utensils, etc.).
• Maintains collegial relationships with the students' learning team.

Casual Support wages are paid at year 1 on the grid.
