Registration/Booking Clerk, Neuro Clinic Clerks
Location: BC Children's Hospital, Vancouver, BC
What you'll do
- Utilize a computerized scheduling system to schedule and book patient appointments, including complex interdisciplinary appointments, and notify patients and clinicians of appointment details, ensuring accuracy and providing reminders.
- Register patients upon arrival, ensuring complete and accurate demographic information, and advise appropriate staff of patient arrival.
- Handle referral functions such as gathering missing information, data entry, processing paperwork, and scheduling referrals based on clinical criteria in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Perform receptionist duties including answering calls, responding to inquiries, managing patient files, greeting patients, and handling scheduling issues.
- Maintain client charts and records, including requesting and verifying information with physicians' offices and hospitals.
- Record and maintain various data such as attendance, treatment types, cancellations, and waitlist information, following up with team members as needed.
- Prepare and distribute correspondence, reports, notices, agendas, and other documents using word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Provide clerical support such as scheduling meetings, filing, mailing, faxing, photocopying, and ordering supplies.
- Manage expense claims, ensuring proper coding, authorization, and submission of invoices and reimbursements.
- Handle patient charts and health record requests, including obtaining health record numbers for new patients.
- Assist the Clinical Resource Nurse with information gathering and supply management as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you bring
Qualifications
- Grade 12 diploma plus two years of recent relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to keyboard at 45 w.p.m.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency with related equipment.
- Physical ability to perform the duties required.
- Commitment to reconciliation and understanding of Indigenous issues, including knowledge of related legislative and cultural safety initiatives.
