Position: Registration/Booking Clerk, Endo-Biochem Clinic Clerks
Location: BC Children’s Hospital, Vancouver, BC
What You’ll Do
- Utilize computerized scheduling systems to book patient appointments, including complex interdisciplinary ones, and notify patients and clinicians accordingly.
- Register patients upon arrival, ensuring accuracy of demographics and information, and notify relevant healthcare professionals of patient arrival.
- Handle referral functions such as gathering information, data entry, and scheduling based on clinical criteria.
- Perform receptionist duties including answering calls, responding to inquiries, greeting patients, and managing schedules and paperwork.
- Maintain and assemble patient charts, ensuring documentation accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain records related to patient attendance, treatments, and cancellations, and follow up as needed.
- Prepare and distribute correspondence, reports, and other materials using word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Provide clerical support such as booking meetings, filing, and ordering supplies.
- Process expense claims and maintain billing records.
- Manage patient charts with Health Records, including requisitions and tracking.
- Assist the Clinical Resource Nurse with supplies and information as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 plus two years’ recent relevant experience, or equivalent education and training.
- Knowledge of Indigenous-specific mandates, cultural safety, and anti-racism initiatives.
- Understanding of systemic racism, colonial impacts on Indigenous Peoples, and legislative obligations such as TRC, IPS, UNDRIP, and others.
Core Competencies and Skills
- Understanding of Indigenous-specific and systemic racism, with initiatives to promote safety and inclusion.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, effective communication skills, organization, and equipment operation.
- Ability to work physically and demonstrate ongoing learning about Indigenous issues and anti-racism.
Additional Information
This is a temporary, full-time position until March 31, 2026, at a wage of $27.10/hour, located at 4500 Oak Street, Vancouver BC. Hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
