Job summary

Kingston Regional Pet Hospital, an after-hours emergency hospital in Kingston, ON, seeks a part-time RVT. The role involves assisting veterinarians with medical, surgical and dental procedures, patient preparation, and monitoring medications.

A strong emphasis is placed on client communication and compassionate care. Candidates must have VTNE eligibility or pass, be in good standing, and hold a Canadian Veterinary or Animal Health Technology Diploma.

Qualifications

• RVT must have passed VTNE or be eligible to, and be in good standing with the provincial regulatory association.
• Must have completed a 2-3 year accredited Canadian Veterinary or Animal Health Technology Diploma Program.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinarian with medical, surgical and dental procedures.
• Prepare patients, instruments and equipment for surgery.
• Administer and monitor medicines under Veterinarian direction.

We are an after-hours emergency hospital located in Kingston, ON. We are a mentoring team of DVMs and RVT's who encourage everyone to step outside of their comfort zone and learn new skills. We are a fast paced environment dealing with emergencies in small animals. Our team is supportive, easy going and enjoys light hearted times during the stressful ones. Our ideal team member would be eager to learn, enjoy a fast pace of work while being able to multi-task and be superior in client communication skills.

Is This Role Right For You?

Our ideal Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) builds positive client relationships by displaying genuine care and compassion towards clients and their pets, being respectful in all interactions and providing exceptional customer service. The RVT also assists the Veterinarian with medical, surgical and dental procedures, by using a range of diagnostic equipment, preparing patients, instruments and equipment for surgery; and administering and monitoring medicines under the direction of a Veterinarian.

Our ideal Registered Veterinary Technician(RVT) must have passed the VTNE or be eligible to write the VTNE, be in good standing with the provincial regulatory association and successfully completed a 2 or 3-year accredited Canadian Veterinary or Animal Health Technology Diploma Program. We are looking for a part-time RVT with a flexible schedule to work a possible mix of day and night shifts
