The Opportunity

As a Registered Practical Nurse, you will assume the team leader role of the Resident Home Area including resident care, staff, and the environment within the RPN scope of practice; providing optimum individualized resident care in accordance with the Standards of Nursing Practice, College of Nurses of Ontario, and long-term care legislation.

This role reports to the Clinical Manager with the following accountabilities :

  • Demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality care in accordance with the Pioneer Ridge vision, mission, and caring philosophy.
  • Plans, implements, coordinates, and evaluates the nursing care of the residents to meet their physical, psychological, emotional, cultural, spiritual, and social needs.
  • Completes all required documentation including assessment, care plans, medical documentation, MDS, and RAI.
  • Encourages resident participation and family support in activities of daily living and participates in health promotion.
  • Creates a comfortable and safe environment that provides for privacy, dignity, autonomy, independence, and individuality.
  • Demonstrates clinical skills by promoting and encouraging resident involvement in Activities of Daily Living.

Ideal Candidate

  • Current unrestricted certificate of competence as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario and proof of current Basic Cardiac Life Support.
  • Knowledge of long-term care legislation, specifically the Long Term Care Home Act and the Residents Bill of Rights.
  • Experience in Long Term Care or gerontology.
  • Ability to identify, understand, and meet / exceed the requirements of internal and external customers.
