Job summary

Sienna Senior Living in Ontario is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to provide compassionate, resident‑centered care across our communities.

You will administer prescribed medications, complete assessments and care plans, support unregulated care workers, and collaborate with the nursing team to promote wellness and safety for our residents. Requires RPN registration, BCLS, Medication Administration certificate, and at least 1 year of geriatric nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Must have current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Must have current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
• Must have current Medication Administration Certificate.
• Minimum of one year experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare and/or Rehabilitation as an RPN.
• Must pass the Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Must meet provincial police check and TB screening requirements.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and administering prescribed, routine medications and treatments as directed by the Physician and in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario’s Medication Administration Standards.
• Documenting and following up on concerns and complaints from Clients, family or team members and inform/seeks assistance from the Registered Nurse or designate.
• Promoting client self-care, wellness, and preventative health education while treating the whole person.
• Completing all required assessments, RAPS and care plans within timeframes as required.
• Supporting unregulated care workers through guidance, direction, training and education.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Job description

Rate of Pay: $29.28 - $32.13 (as per collective agreement)

As a Registered Practical Nurse your typical day will impact in the following ways:

• Preparing and administering prescribed, routine, medications and treatments as directed by the Physician and in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario’s Medication Administration Standards.

• Supporting the unregulated care workers through guidance, direction, training and education.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Must Haves

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
• Current Medication Administration Certificate.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare and/or Rehabilitation as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
• As part of legislative requirements, all successful candidates must meet the provincial police check and tuberculosis screening requirements as applicable.

Bonus Points For Having

• Post-graduate studies in Geriatrics and Nursing Administration is an asset.
