Job summary

Spencer House in Orillia, part of Sienna Senior Living, seeks a Registered Practical Nurse for permanent part-time days. You will provide nursing care per policy, physician orders, and the resident plan of care, upholding comfort, dignity and respect for seniors.

Join a collaborative care team, supervise Personal Support Workers, and communicate with residents and families. A valid RPN license with the Ontario College of Nurses is required; geriatrics experience is an asset.

Qualifications

• Registered Practical Nurse license in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses.
• Experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation, or senior health is an asset.
• Strong judgement and ability to foster a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in accordance with policy, physician orders, and resident plan of care.
• Ensure delivery of excellent nursing and personal care.
• Create a welcoming environment through teamwork and effective communication with staff.
• Oversee resident care and communicate with residents and families, guiding staff.
• Supervise Personal Support Workers/Unregulated team members on the unit.
• Admission, readmission, and change in status with ongoing resident assessment.

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Registered Practical Nurse is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents.

What you’ll be doing:

• Provide nursing care in accordance with established policy, physician’s orders, the resident plan of care, and within the scope of practice of an RPN/LPN.
• Utilizing sound nursing practice principles, ensure delivery of excellent nursing and personal care
• Creating a welcoming and supportive environment for the residents through teamwork and effective communication with staff
• Overseeing resident care, including regular communication with residents and their families, and providing guidance to staff
• Supervise the Personal Support Workers/Unregulated team members assigned to the unit
• Admission, readmission, and change in status, and provide ongoing assessment to the residents

Who you are

• A Registered Practical Nurse in good standing the Ontario College of Nurses
• An asset is having experience in Geriatrics, Rehabilitation and/or senior health industry
• You have good judgement, the ability to identify risk and can foster a positive work environment
