Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, quality patient- and family-centred care to meet the identified needs of patients of varying complexity with predictable outcomes and manageable responses.
• Apply the knowledge, skill and judgment required to provide safe, evidence-based nursing care within the RPN scope of practice and level of competency.
• Practice in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards, QCH policies and procedures, and the standards of care applicable to the assigned clinical area.
• Demonstrate QCH values of collaboration, accountability, innovation and respect.

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Registered Practical Nurse diploma.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to understand, interpret and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
• Ability to work effectively within nursing and interprofessional teams.
• Demonstrated computer competency.

Preferred:

• One year of recent experience in an acute care setting.
• Experience with clinical documentation in an Electronic Health Record.
• Membership in the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario and associations related to a nursing specialty.
• Experience as a preceptor.
• Additional qualifications may be required or preferred based on the clinical area.
