Qualifications

• Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• RPN diploma is required.
• Current BCLS certification.
• One year of recent experience in emergency and/or hospital-based acute mental health services.
• Ability to understand, interpret and carry out verbal and written English instructions.
• Ability to work effectively within the nursing and inter-professional team.
• Demonstrated computer competency.

Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides comprehensive, quality patient and family centered care to meet the identified care needs of varying complexity but with predictable outcomes and manageable responses.
• Has the knowledge, skill and judgment needed to provide safe, evidence-based nursing practice within their level of competency and comply with the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards, QCH Policies and Procedures, as well as the standards of care appropriate to his/her area of clinical practice.
• Demonstrate QCH values: collaboration, accountability, innovation, respect

• Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• RPN diploma
• Current BCLS
• One (1) year of recent experience in emergency and/or hospital-based acute care mental health services
• Ability to understand, interpret and carry out verbal and written instructions in the English language
• Ability to work effectively within the nursing and inter-professional team
• Demonstrated computer competency

PREFERRED:

• Mental Health Nursing education/certification
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training
• Competency in mental health assessmenttools and interventions(i.e. mental status exams,suicide risk assessment, therapeutic interventions, RAI assessments)
• Experience with clinical documentation in an Electronic Health Record (preferably EPIC)
• Membership in RPNAO and associations related to nursing specialty
• Experience as preceptor
